Canadian Grand Prix cancelled for second year running

Montreal Public Health have concluded that despite the 2021 Formula One Canadian Grand Prix being able to operate behind closed doors, the risk of people getting Covid-19 during the event is just too high.

Quebec Public Health had reported earlier in the week would allow the Formula 1 event to take place under certain circumstances. However, the F1 officials wanted to bypass the mandatory 14-day quarantine and would rely on private doctors. They also proposed making a bubble, but this wouldn’t work as there would be many people outside of the bubble that would come into contact.

As a result, Montreal Public Health decided that the Grand Prix, which should’ve been held on 13 June, is going to be cancelled for the second consecutive year in a row.

The rumour mill suggests that Istanbul Park Circuit may be the replacement for the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, a track that would be a welcome addition for Formula One fans.
